Peaministrites

Peaministrites, also known as the Prime Minister's Residence, is a historic building located in the heart of Riga, the capital city of Latvia. Constructed in the late 19th century, it was originally designed as a private residence for the wealthy merchant and industrialist, Baron Paul von Manteuffel. The building is a fine example of Neo-Renaissance architecture, featuring ornate facades, intricate details, and a grand entrance.

In 1919, after Latvia declared independence, the building was acquired by the newly formed Latvian government. It was then converted into the official residence of the Prime Minister of Latvia. Over the years, the Peaministrites has served as the official residence for several prominent Latvian politicians, including Kārlis Ulmanis, who was the Prime Minister during Latvia's period of independence.

Today, the Peaministrites is a protected cultural heritage site and is open to the public for guided tours. Visitors can explore the beautifully preserved interior, which includes original furnishings, artworks, and historical artifacts. The building also houses a museum that provides insights into Latvia's political history and the lives of its leaders.
