Patogenfragment

Patogenfragment is a term used in biology to refer to a fragment derived from a pathogen, such as a segment of its genome, a fragment of its proteome, or a subviral component, that is studied or utilized in scientific and medical contexts. The term is not universally standardized and may be used informally to describe discrete pieces of a pathogen used in research, diagnostics, or vaccine development.

Common types include genomic fragments (DNA or RNA segments representing parts of a pathogen's genome), proteomic fragments (peptides or epitopes derived from a pathogen's proteins), and antigenic fragments used in diagnostic assays or as vaccine subunits. Patogenfragment s can be obtained by sequencing, cloning, or chemical synthesis, or by isolating material from pathogens under appropriate biosafety conditions.

Applications span diagnostics (target sequences for PCR, antigens for serology), vaccines (subunit antigens that stimulate immunity), and research (epitope mapping, immune response studies).
