Okrieds
Okrieds, also known as Okrye, are a group of ancient Slavic tribes that inhabited the territory of modern-day Ukraine and parts of Russia and Belarus. They are first mentioned in historical records from the 9th century. Okrieds were known for their military prowess and played a significant role in the early history of Kievan Rus', the medieval state that preceded modern Ukraine and Russia. They were part of the East Slavic tribes and spoke a dialect of Old East Slavic. The Okrieds were eventually assimilated into the Kievan Rus' state, contributing to its cultural and political development. Their legacy can still be seen in the names of modern Ukrainian regions and cities, such as Okrye and Okryevo.
