Ohain
Ohain is a village in the German federal state of Lower Saxony. The name also refers to Hans Joachim Pabst von Ohain (1911–1998), a German aerospace engineer who pioneered jet propulsion. In the 1930s, von Ohain designed early turbojet engines and contributed to the development of jet-powered flight. His work culminated in the first jet-powered aircraft to fly, the Heinkel He 178, which first flew in 1939. After World War II he emigrated to the United States and continued his career in aerospace research.
