Nyirokműködés refers to the functioning of the lymphatic system. This intricate network of vessels, nodes, and organs plays a crucial role in the body's immune defense and fluid balance. The lymphatic system collects excess fluid, known as lymph, that leaks from blood capillaries into tissues. This lymph, containing waste products, pathogens, and other foreign substances, is then transported through a system of vessels.

Along the lymphatic vessels are lymph nodes, small, bean-shaped structures that act as filters. Within these nodes, specialized immune cells, such as lymphocytes, identify and destroy harmful agents like bacteria and viruses. This filtering process is a vital part of the body's defense against infection.

Beyond its immune function, the lymphatic system also helps maintain fluid balance by returning the collected lymph to the bloodstream. Without proper lymphatic functioning, fluid would accumulate in tissues, leading to swelling, a condition known as lymphedema. The spleen, thymus, tonsils, and adenoids are also considered part of the lymphatic system, each contributing to immune responses. The continuous circulation and filtering action of lymph are essential for overall health and well-being.
