Joseph Nicéphore Niépce was a French inventor and is credited with creating the world's first successful photograph. Born on March 7, 1765, in Chalon-sur-Saône, France, Niépce pursued various scientific and artistic endeavors throughout his life. Driven by a desire to capture images permanently, he experimented with light-sensitive materials and printing techniques.

In 1826 or 1827, Niépce produced what is now known as "View from the Window at Le Gras," a heliograph that required an exposure of several hours. This groundbreaking achievement marked a pivotal moment in the history of photography. He later collaborated with Louis Daguerre, who built upon Niépce's work and developed the daguerreotype process, which gained wider recognition. Niépce passed away on July 5, 1833, leaving behind a legacy as the pioneer of photography.
