The standard unit for molarity is moles per liter, denoted as mol/L or M.

To calculate molarity, one first needs to determine the number of moles of the solute. This can be done by dividing the mass of the solute by its molar mass. Subsequently, this molar amount is divided by the total volume of the solution in liters. For instance, if a solution contains 0.5 moles of a solute dissolved in 2 liters of solvent, its molarity would be 0.25 M.
