Megolvasztanak

Megolvasztanak is a Hungarian term that translates to "they are melting" or "it is melting" in English, referring to the process of a solid substance transitioning into a liquid state due to an increase in temperature. This phenomenon is a fundamental concept in physics and chemistry, describing a phase transition.

The temperature at which a substance melts is known as its melting point. This point is characteristic of a pure substance under standard atmospheric pressure. For example, water melts at 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit). When a solid is heated, its molecules gain kinetic energy and vibrate more vigorously. At the melting point, these vibrations become strong enough to overcome the intermolecular forces holding the molecules in a fixed structure, allowing them to move more freely as a liquid.

The reverse process, where a liquid transforms back into a solid, is called freezing or solidification, and it occurs at the same temperature as the melting point. The term "megolvasztanak" can be used in various contexts, from describing the melting of ice to industrial processes like melting metals for casting. It is a common word encountered in everyday language and scientific discussions in Hungary.
