Mangánoxid is a general term referring to chemical compounds containing manganese and oxygen. The most common and well-known mangánoxid is manganese dioxide (MnO2), also known as pyrolusite. This dark brown to black solid is the principal ore of manganese. Manganese dioxide has a variety of uses, including in batteries, as a decolorizing agent in glass manufacturing, and as an oxidizing agent in chemical reactions. It is also used in the production of ceramics and as a pigment.
