Lampbrush
Lampbrush refers to a specific microscopic structure found within the nuclei of growing oocytes, or immature egg cells, of many vertebrates, including amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. These structures are characterized by their appearance under a microscope, which resembles a bottle brush.
The lampbrush chromosomes are exceptionally large and are thought to be highly active in gene transcription.
The functional significance of lampbrush chromosomes is believed to be related to the massive protein synthesis
