Lümfikapillaaridesse

Lümfikapillaaridesse, meaning "into the lymphatic capillaries" in Estonian, refers to the entry of interstitial fluid into the microscopic lymphatic vessels. These capillaries are a fundamental part of the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in fluid balance, immune response, and fat absorption.

The walls of lymphatic capillaries are exceptionally thin and permeable, consisting of a single layer of endothelial cells. They are designed to collect excess fluid, proteins, and other substances that leak out of blood capillaries into the surrounding tissues. This fluid, now known as lymph, enters the lymphatic capillaries through flap-like valves formed by the overlapping endothelial cells. When the pressure of the interstitial fluid outside the capillary is higher than the pressure inside, these valves open, allowing the fluid to flow in.

Once inside the lymphatic capillaries, the fluid is transported through a network of increasingly larger lymphatic vessels. This movement is primarily driven by the contraction of surrounding skeletal muscles, breathing movements, and the pulsation of nearby arteries. The lymphatic system eventually returns the filtered lymph to the bloodstream, thereby maintaining tissue fluid homeostasis and preventing edema. The process of lümfikapillaaridesse is therefore essential for the proper functioning of both the circulatory and immune systems.
