Kemoszintézisnek is a biological process by which organisms, typically bacteria and archaea, produce energy and carbon compounds from the oxidation of inorganic chemical substances. Unlike photosynthesis, which uses light energy, chemosynthesis relies on the chemical energy released from chemical reactions. This process is crucial for life in environments where sunlight is scarce or absent, such as deep-sea hydrothermal vents, underground caves, and even within certain soils.
