Kahnawàkes
Kahnawà:ke is a Mohawk Indigenous community located south of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Its name in the Mohawk language means "on the rapids". The community is situated on the southern bank of the Saint Lawrence River, opposite the island of Montreal. Kahnawà:ke is one of the largest Mohawk communities in Canada. The community's governance is managed by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, which is an elected body. The community is also known for its skilled ironworkers, many of whom have historically been involved in constructing tall buildings and bridges across North America.
