Kaasuttamisen

Kaasuttaminen is a Finnish term referring to the process of gasification. Gasification is a thermochemical process that converts organic or fossil fuels into a synthesis gas, also known as syngas. Syngas is primarily a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, with smaller amounts of carbon dioxide and methane. The process typically involves heating the feedstock in a controlled environment with a limited amount of oxygen, steam, or air. This partial oxidation breaks down the complex organic molecules into simpler gaseous compounds.

The primary goal of kaasuttaminen is to create a versatile fuel or feedstock that can be used for various applications. Syngas can be burned directly to produce heat and electricity, or it can be further processed to synthesize liquid fuels like methanol or synthetic gasoline through processes like the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
