Külvimasinaid

Külvimasinaid, known in English as seed drills or planters, are agricultural implements used to sow seeds in the soil. They are designed to achieve precise seed placement, ensuring optimal germination and crop establishment. Modern külvimasinaid can sow a variety of seeds, from small grains to larger beans and corn, and can be adjusted for different planting depths and spacing.

The basic principle of a külvimasinaid involves a seed hopper, a metering mechanism, and a coulter or opener that creates a furrow in the soil. The metering mechanism then dispenses seeds at a predetermined rate and spacing into the furrow, which is subsequently closed by a covering device, often a press wheel.
