Granulotsüütideks

Granulotsüütideks, also known as granulocytes, are a type of white blood cell that plays a crucial role in the immune system. They are characterized by the presence of granules in their cytoplasm, which contain various enzymes and proteins that help in fighting infections and other foreign invaders. Granulocytes are produced in the bone marrow and are released into the bloodstream.

There are three main types of granulocytes: neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils. Neutrophils are the most abundant type and are the first responders to bacterial and fungal infections. They engulf and destroy pathogens through a process called phagocytosis. Eosinophils are involved in combating parasitic infections and also play a role in allergic reactions. Basophils, the least common type, release histamine and other mediators that contribute to inflammation and allergic responses.

The production and release of granulocytes are tightly regulated by cytokines, which are signaling molecules produced by other immune cells. When an infection or inflammation occurs, the body increases the production and release of granulocytes to the affected site. Their presence and activity are essential for a healthy immune response.
