GMPAMPcGAMP
GMPAMPcGAMP is a cyclic dinucleotide (CDN) that plays a significant role in innate immunity. It is synthesized by cGMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) in response to the detection of cytosolic DNA. The presence of foreign DNA, such as from viruses or bacteria, triggers cGAS to produce GMPAMPcGAMP. This molecule then binds to and activates the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) protein.
