Földkéregnek

Földkéregnek is a Hungarian term that translates to "Earth's crust" in English. It refers to the outermost solid shell of a rocky planet, dwarf planet, or natural satellite. On Earth, the crust is the thin, brittle layer that covers the much hotter and denser mantle.

The Earth's crust is divided into two main types: continental crust and oceanic crust. Continental crust is thicker and less dense, forming the continents and their continental shelves. It is predominantly composed of granitic rocks. Oceanic crust is thinner and denser, underlying the ocean basins. It is primarily made up of basaltic rocks.

The boundary between the crust and the mantle is known as the Mohorovičić discontinuity, or Moho. The crust is the primary site of geological activity, including plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. It is where we live and where most of Earth's natural resources are found. The thickness of the Earth's crust varies significantly, averaging about 35 kilometers under continents and only about 7 kilometers under the oceans.
