Feodaalis

Feodaalis is a term used to describe a system of social, economic, and political organization prevalent in medieval Europe and other parts of the world. At its core, it involves a hierarchical structure based on land ownership and personal loyalty. A monarch, typically at the top, would grant land, known as a fief, to loyal vassals, usually nobles. In return for this land, the vassals owed military service, counsel, and other obligations to their lord. These vassals could, in turn, grant portions of their fiefs to lesser vassals, creating a chain of dependency.

The peasants, or serfs, formed the base of this feudal pyramid. They were tied to the land and worked it for the benefit of their lords, receiving protection and a small plot for their own sustenance in return. This system provided a framework for governance and defense in times when centralized authority was weak. It dictated much of medieval life, influencing everything from military organization and justice to social status and economic activity. The strength and precise nature of feudalism varied significantly across different regions and time periods.
