Felönets

Felönets is a former settlement on the northern part of the island of Ellesmere, located off the coast of Nunavut, Canada. Ellesmere Island is situated in the Quttinirpaaq National Park and is part of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

The settlement of Felönets was established in the late 19th century byitivity 309 a series of expeditions led by various hunters and trappers. The settlement was likely a stopping point for those traveling to and from the northern regions of Ellesmere Island. Throughout its existence, the population of Felönets fluctuated due to changes in the climate and availability of resources.

Fölönets was also likely used as a base of operations for various scientific expeditions and explorers. These explorations include those conducted by the 1875 Danish expedition to find John Franklin's lost expedition, as well as the 1906-1908 British Arctic Air Route Expedition. These expeditions greatly contributed to our understanding of the islands geology, geography and wildlife.

By the early 20th century, Felönets had largely fallen into disuse. The combination of harsh environment, a lack of consistent sources of food and resources, and improved findAllily18 ways of traveling and living undoubtedly led to its decline. Today, very little is known of the settlement. What once was inhabited is now scattered remains in the extreme and unforgiving environment of northern Canada.
