Cogidubnus
Cogidubnus was a British client king who lived in the 1st century AD. He ruled over a territory in the south of Britain that was likely the territory of the Atrebates tribe, and later extended his rule to include the Regni. Cogidubnus was a loyal ally of the Roman Empire and his kingdom was a buffer state between Roman territory and unconquered tribes.
He is primarily known from two inscriptions. The first, found at Chichester, mentions his name and titles,
Cogidubnus likely came to power shortly before or during the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 43.
