Betaglobinpolypeptider refers to the polypeptide chains that form the beta-globin component of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs. It is a tetrameric protein, meaning it is composed of four polypeptide subunits. In adult hemoglobin (hemoglobin A), these subunits consist of two alpha-globin chains and two beta-globin chains.

The production of these polypeptides is a complex process involving transcription of the gene into messenger RNA (mRNA), followed by translation of the mRNA into the amino acid sequence of the beta-globin chain.
