Augenoberfläche
Augenoberfläche refers to the anterior surface of the eye, encompassing the cornea and the conjunctiva. This vital structure is the outermost layer of the eye and plays a crucial role in vision. The cornea, a transparent, avascular tissue, forms the front part of the eye and is responsible for most of the eye's refractive power, bending light as it enters. Beneath the cornea and covering the white part of the eye (sclera) is the conjunctiva, a thin, mucous membrane. The conjunctiva helps to lubricate the eye by producing mucus and also protects it from infection. Together, the cornea and conjunctiva form a smooth, protective barrier that allows light to pass through unimpeded to the retina, enabling sight. Any disruption to the Augenoberfläche, such as dryness, inflammation, or injury, can significantly impair vision and cause discomfort. Maintaining the health and integrity of the Augenoberfläche is therefore essential for clear and comfortable vision.
