The polite imperative, also known as the "Sie-Form," is used to give commands or make requests to someone of higher status or to express politeness. It is formed by taking the third-person singular form of the verb and removing the "-t" ending. For example, "laufen" (to run) becomes "laufen Sie!" (run!).

The hortative is used to express a wish or desire for someone to do something. It is formed by taking the second-person singular form of the verb and adding "-en" to the stem. For example, "laufen" (to run) becomes "lauf-en!" (let's run!).

In addition to these forms, there are also negative imperatives, which are formed by adding "nicht" before the imperative form. For example, "laufen" (to run) becomes "lauf nicht!" (don't run!).
