This unit signifies that for every second that passes, the velocity of the object changes by a certain number of meters per second. It is important to distinguish average acceleration from instantaneous acceleration. Instantaneous acceleration refers to the acceleration of an object at a specific point in time, whereas average acceleration considers the overall change in velocity over a duration. When an object's velocity is constant, its average acceleration is zero. If an object is speeding up in a straight line, its average acceleration will be in the same direction as its velocity.
