Viskoosius is a term that refers to the degree of viscosity of a substance. Viscosity itself is a measure of a fluid's resistance to flow. Imagine honey and water; honey is much more viscous than water because it flows more slowly. This resistance to flow arises from the internal friction within the fluid, which is caused by the cohesive forces between its molecules.

The unit of dynamic viscosity is the Pascal-second (Pa·s) or Poise (P). Kinematic viscosity, on the other hand, is dynamic viscosity divided by density, and its unit is the square meter per second (m²/s) or Stokes (St). The concept of viskoosius is important in various fields, including engineering, physics, and chemistry. For example, in engineering, understanding the viscosity of lubricants is crucial for designing efficient machinery. In meteorology, the viscosity of air and water influences weather patterns.

Factors such as temperature and pressure significantly affect a fluid's viscosity. Generally, as temperature increases, the viscosity of liquids decreases, while the viscosity of gases increases. This is because increased temperature leads to weaker intermolecular forces in liquids, allowing molecules to move more freely, and stronger molecular motion in gases, leading to more frequent collisions and thus greater resistance to flow. Pressure also has an effect, though it is usually less pronounced than temperature for liquids.
