verificarse

Verificarse is a Spanish verb, the reflexive form of verificar. It is used mainly in formal, technical, or bureaucratic language, and in some contexts it conveys a passive or impersonal sense. The word comes from Latin verificare, formed from verus “true” and facere “to make.”

The primary meaning is to verify or confirm the truth, accuracy, or validity of something. In this use, the action is often reported in impersonal or passive constructions: se verificó la información (the information was verified). The reflexive form is also employed to indicate that a result has been established or to express that something turns out to be the case: la hipótesis se verificó; se verificó un incremento en las ventas (an increase in sales was verified). In scientific or legal writing, verificarse frequently encases the idea that a conclusion has been confirmed by evidence, data, or procedures.

In everyday speech, the non-reflexive verificar is far more common for direct verification: verificé los datos, verifique la temperatura, etc. The pronominal form verificarse, by contrast, tends to appear in formal reporting or when emphasizing the outcome or state resulting from verification.
