Széndioxidkészletet refers to the total amount of carbon dioxide that is stored in various reservoirs on Earth. These reservoirs include the atmosphere, oceans, terrestrial biosphere, and the Earth's crust. The carbon cycle describes the continuous movement of carbon between these different reservoirs.

The atmospheric reservoir is where carbon dioxide is present as a greenhouse gas. Human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, have significantly increased the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This increase is a primary driver of climate change.

The oceans hold a vast amount of carbon dioxide, absorbing it from the atmosphere. This process, known as ocean uptake, helps to mitigate the rise in atmospheric CO2 levels, but it also leads to ocean acidification, which can harm marine ecosystems.

The terrestrial biosphere, comprising plants, soils, and other organic matter, stores a substantial amount of carbon. Forests, in particular, are significant carbon sinks. However, deforestation and changes in land use can release this stored carbon back into the atmosphere.

The Earth's crust contains the largest carbon reservoir, primarily in the form of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas) and carbonate rocks. The extraction and combustion of fossil fuels are the main sources of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. Understanding the dynamics of these carbon reservoirs and the exchange of carbon between them is crucial for comprehending and addressing global climate change.
