Spinnerbaits are a type of fishing lure used by anglers to target predatory fish, especially largemouth and smallmouth bass, in freshwater and occasional saltwater contexts. A typical spinnerbait consists of a lead or tungsten head attached to a wire frame, with one or more spinning blades mounted on a swivel above the head. A skirt of silicone or natural fibers is wrapped around the head to mimic prey, and many models allow a soft plastic trailer to be added.

The blade(s) rotate around the wire when retrieved, creating flash and vibration that can attract fish even in murky water. Different blade shapes (willow, Colorado, Indiana) produce different combinations of flash, vibration, and water displacement. Willow blades tend to pulse with faster swimming; Colorado blades produce more vibration and deeper thump; Indiana blades are intermediate. Finish and blade size affect sound and profile; two-blade designs increase vibration but can tangle in heavy cover.

Spinnerbaits are most commonly used around structure such as weeds, rocks, and fallen timber. They can be fished with a steady retrieve, a slow roll, a stop-and-go, or a quick jerky pull to trigger bites; specific color and skirt choice depends on water clarity and baitfish. Some models include weed guards or use thicker skirts to aid weed resistance.
