Smaksløkkepitel refers to the specialized epithelial tissue that forms taste buds. These taste buds are sensory organs responsible for detecting taste stimuli in the oral cavity. They are primarily located on the tongue, but can also be found on the soft palate, epiglottis, and upper esophagus. Smaksløkkepitel is a complex structure composed of several cell types, including gustatory cells, supporting cells, and basal cells.
Gustatory cells, also known as taste receptor cells, are the primary sensory cells within the taste bud.
The arrangement of these cells creates a functional unit capable of distinguishing between the five basic
