Sektory is a Polish term meaning parts or areas of a whole, used in several domains to denote subdivisions with similar characteristics. In geometry, a circular sector is the region of a circle bounded by two radii and the included arc. It is defined by its central angle and radius, and its area is A = 1/2 r^2 θ (when θ is in radians), or A = (θ/360) π r^2 (when θ is in degrees). The length of the bounding arc is s = r θ (with θ in radians). The sector’s proportions correspond to the fraction θ/(2π) of the circle.

In economics and social sciences, sectors refer to broad areas of economic activity: the primary sector (extraction of natural resources), the secondary sector (manufacturing and construction), and the tertiary sector (services). Some classifications add the quaternary sector (knowledge-based activities) and the quinary sector (high-level decision making). Sectoral analysis studies how the shares of these sectors change over time, reflecting development, technological change, and policy.

Other uses include administrative, organizational, or planning contexts where a sector denotes a division of a city, institution, or program designed for coordination and management.
