Sairauspäiväraha is a benefit paid in Finland to compensate for lost income when an individual is unable to work due to illness. It is administered by Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland. To be eligible for sairauuspäiväraha, an individual must have been unable to work for at least ten days due to illness, and their earning capacity must be significantly reduced. A doctor's certificate is required to confirm the illness and its impact on work capacity.

The amount of sairauuspäiväraha is calculated based on the individual's annual income. There are minimum and maximum daily allowances. The benefit is typically paid for a maximum of 300 days. If the illness continues beyond this period, an extended sickness allowance may be possible under certain conditions. For self-employed individuals, the calculation is based on their insured income. Employers may pay a sickness allowance for the first few days of the illness, known as the waiting period, before Kela's benefits commence. Sairauuspäiväraha is taxable income.
