referireis

Referireis is the second-person plural future indicative form of the Portuguese verb referir, used with the archaic or regional pronoun vós to mean “you all will refer.” It corresponds to the standard form vocês referirão in Brazil and in contemporary Portugal when using the vós form is appropriate.

Etymology and morphology: referir is a regular -ir verb that derives from Latin referre. In the future indicative, the endings for -ir verbs are added to the verb stem referir, yielding eu referirei, tu referirás, ele referirá, nós referiremos, vós referireis, eles referirão. The form referireis is thus built on the same pattern as the other second-person plural forms in the vós paradigm.

Usage and regional variation: referireis is mostly encountered in historical texts, formal or literary contexts, and in regions or communities that still use the vós pronoun, such as parts of Portugal. In everyday modern Brazilian Portuguese and in many parts of Portugal, speakers typically use vocês referirão instead of referireis. When teaching or cataloging verb forms, referireis is often cited as an example of the vós future tense in standard European Portuguese.
