There is variation in how opposition operates across systems. Some adopt a constructive opposition, engaging with the government to refine policy, while others emphasize confrontation and rejection. In some parliamentary traditions, the largest non-governing party is labeled as the leading opposition, while coalitions may shift after elections, altering which parties sit in government or in opposition.
