Mathmatik is a variant spelling of the word mathematics used primarily in German and some other European languages. In German, mathematics is called Mathematik, and the alternative form Mathmatik appears occasionally in literature, education material, or informal contexts. The term is not recognized as a distinct academic discipline but is simply an orthographic variation.

The etymology of the word derives from the Greek root "mathema" meaning knowledge or learning combined with the suffix "-ikē" indicating a branch of study.
