Kerstfeest, or Christmas, is a Christian festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ. It is traditionally observed on December 25, though observance varies by country and denomination. The season between Advent and Epiphany is often marked by religious services, family gatherings, and festive preparations.

Common symbols and customs include the Christmas tree, lights, nativity scenes, carols, and the exchange of gifts. Many people attend church services, such as Christmas Mass, and communities host Christmas markets. A festive meal or feast is typically shared with relatives and close friends. While rooted in religious tradition, Kerstfeest also has secular and cultural dimensions.

Regional practices differ. In Dutch-speaking regions, celebrations often center on Kerstavond (December 24) and Kerstmis (December 25), with Tweede Kerstdag (December 26) a major holiday in the Netherlands. Sinterklaas, celebrated on December 5, remains a separate gift-giving tradition for many families. In Belgium and the Netherlands, church services are common, as are midnight Masses and family meals.

Today, Kerstfeest is observed worldwide, with variations in date, ritual, and emphasis. For many, it is both a religious observance and a secular holiday focused on family, generosity, and public celebration.
