endoneuriumi
Endoneuriumi is a term that appears to be a misspelling or an uncommon variant of "endoneurium". The endoneurium is the delicate connective tissue that surrounds individual nerve fibers within a peripheral nerve. It is composed of loose connective tissue containing fibroblasts, collagen fibers, and a basal lamina. This thin layer of tissue provides support and nourishment to the axons, which are the long projections of nerve cells. The endoneurium plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the nerve and facilitating the transmission of nerve impulses. It also contains capillaries that supply oxygen and nutrients to the nerve fibers. Within the endoneurium, there are also specific cells called endoneurial fibroblasts, which are responsible for producing and maintaining the extracellular matrix. The blood-nerve barrier, which regulates the passage of substances into the nerve, is also formed in part by the endoneurium. Damage to the endoneurium can lead to nerve dysfunction and various neuropathies.
