A coördinatieteam is a temporary, cross-organizational group assembled to coordinate the actions of multiple agencies during incidents or large operations. Its purpose is to create a shared situational picture, align objectives, and speed up decision-making to protect lives and property and to ensure the efficient use of resources.

The team typically includes representatives from emergency services, public health, social services, utilities, municipal administration, and other relevant partners. A designated coordinator leads the team and is supported by a liaison officer, planning and intelligence personnel, logistics, and public information staff. Depending on the event, subject-matter experts may participate on a rotating or ad hoc basis.

Activation occurs when incidents exceed the capacity of normal command structures or require cross-sector coordination. The team convenes to exchange information through a common data platform, develop an incident action plan, and make strategic decisions in coordination with the incident command post or crisis management body. The aim is to maintain control of the situation, guide resource deployment, assess risks, and coordinate the continuity and restoration of essential services.

In practice, coördinatieteams are part of regional or municipal crisis management and may operate alongside or under a crisis center. They are typically dissolved when normal operations resume, with a formal review to capture lessons learned for future responses.
