In the Netherlands, for example, secondary education includes structured career orientation and guidance (loopbaanoriëntatie en -begeleiding, LOB), helping students choose between different educational tracks such as VMBO, HAVO, or VWO and planning onward education in MBO, HBO, or WO. Beroepskeuzes are thus not standalone events but part of ongoing career development, often revisited as individuals gain experience and labor market information.
