alhasil

Alhasil is a lexical item used in Indonesian and Malay that functions as an adverb or conjunction meaning "as a result," "consequently," or "ultimately." It is used to introduce the outcome of a prior clause or sentence. The term is a loanword from classical Arabic, often described as derived from a form meaning "the result" or "the outcome," and reached Malay-Indonesian vocabularies through historical religious and scholarly contacts. In modern usage, alhasil appears in formal and some semi-formal contexts, including journalism and literature, and is less common in everyday casual speech where "akhirnya" or "jadi" might be preferred. It can also be found in compound phrases and prose to signal a conclusion. Example: "Dia sudah bekerja bertahun-tahun; alhasil dia mendapat promosi." Or "Studi menunjukkan peningkatan; alhasil kebijakan baru berhasil."
