Zajmujemy

Zajmujemy is the first-person plural present tense form of the Polish verb zajmować. The verb has two primary meanings: to occupy or take up physical space, and to be busy with or engaged in a task or activity. In addition to its transitively used sense, zajmować is frequently combined with się to form zajmować się czymś, meaning to be occupied with or to deal with something. The form zajmujemy therefore can express a concrete action (we occupy a place) or a more abstract engagement (we are busy with a project).

In practical use, zajmujemy appears in sentences indicating explicit occupation of space, as in Zajmujemy miejsce w pierwszym rzędzie (We occupy a seat in the front row). It is also common in contexts of involvement or responsibility, such as Zajmujemy stanowisko w sprawie bezpieczeństwa (We take a stance on the security issue) or Zajmujemy się realizacją projektu (We are handling the project). When referring to ongoing activities, zajmujemy się is the typical construction, for example Zajmujemy się naprawą, modernizacją lub badaniami. Etymology traces zajmować to a Slavic root connected with taking or grasping, reinforced by the prefix za- forming meanings like “to take up” or “to occupy.” The related verb zajęcie and the reflexive phrase zajmować się share the same semantic core. Zajmujemy is therefore a common, flexible verb form suitable for describing space occupation, time management, and ongoing engagement in various domains.
