VauxleVicomte

VauxleVicomte is a variant spelling of Vaux-le-Vicomte, the historic Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and its surrounding estate in the Île-de-France region of France. The château lies near the village of Maincy in the Seine-et-Marne department, about 55 kilometers southeast of Paris.

History and construction: The project was commissioned in 1656 by Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances

Influence and later history: Fouquet's arrest in 1661 led to the crown assuming control of the estate.

Construction

The

the

Palace
of
