Unrehearsed

Unrehearsed is an adjective meaning not previously practiced or prepared, especially in relation to a performance, presentation, or statement. The term emphasizes spontaneity, immediacy, or authenticity achieved without prior rehearsal. In common usage, unrehearsed describes events or remarks that proceed without the benefit of planned lines, choreography, or timing adjustments.

In the performing arts, unrehearsed performances occur when artists improvise or rely on memory rather than a fixed script. This can enhance a sense of freshness and risk, though it may also increase the likelihood of mistakes or uneven pacing. In music, unrehearsed playing includes spontaneous improvisation or jam sessions; in theatre, actors may deliver unscripted exchanges or ad-libbed scenes.
