Universitair

Universitair is a Dutch adjective meaning related to a university or university-level. It is used to describe education, research, staff, or institutions connected with a university. In the Netherlands and in Flemish-speaking Belgium, the term helps distinguish university-level activities from those offered by hogescholen (universities of applied sciences). It occurs in common phrases such as universitair onderwijs (university education), universitair onderzoek (university research), and in academic job titles such as universitair docent or universitair hoofddocent.

It is also found in descriptions of facilities and centers, for example universitair medisch centrum (university medical center) or universitair ziekenhuis (university hospital), and in names of affiliated institutes.
