Naruto Shippuden is a Japanese anime television series produced by Studio Pierrot and directed by various staff members. It is the direct sequel to Naruto and adapts Masashi Kishimoto's manga of the same name. The series follows Naruto Uzumaki two and a half years after leaving his village to train with Jiraiya, as he returns to Konoha to continue his quest to become Hokage, rescue Sasuke Uchiha, and confront a revived Akatsuki. Shippuden premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo in 2007 and ran for 500 episodes, concluding in 2017. The narrative expands the scope of the original, introducing larger political conflicts, ancient secrets, and the looming threat of the world’s wars.
