Richtungsseite is a German term that translates literally as “direction side.” In technical and cartographic contexts it denotes the side of a sheet, plan, or map that carries the orientation information, such as a north arrow, scale bar, or reference grid. The designation is used to distinguish that face from the opposite side, which may contain only the primary graphical content or additional annotation. In engineering drawing standards, the Richtungsseite is required to be clearly identifiable, often by means of a border, a title block, or a printed legend that includes the word “Richtung” together with the directional symbol.
