Redstone

Redstone is a resource in the sandbox video game Minecraft that enables redstone circuitry and automation. It appears as red ore blocks found underground in the Overworld.

When mined with a pickaxe, Redstone ore drops Redstone dust, which can be collected and placed to form redstone circuits. Mining without a pickaxe yields no drop.

Redstone dust serves as a versatile signaling medium. Placed dust can transmit a redstone signal along lines, with a signal strength from 0 to 15. It can power or interact with components such as redstone torches, repeaters, comparators, rails, and pistons, enabling devices like clocks, doors, traps, and automation systems. Signals can be extended, inverted, or combined using basic logic gates built with redstone devices, including NOT gates, AND gates, and OR gates.

Generation and variants: Redstone ore generates underground in the Overworld, appearing in veins within stone and, at greater depths, in deepslate. Players commonly encounter it while mining or exploring underground caverns and mineshafts.
