PalmaIndex

PalmaIndex is a financial index designed to measure the performance of the palm commodities sector. It tracks a basket of palm-related products, principally crude palm oil (CPO), palm kernel oil (PKO), and related derivatives, across major producing countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia and key consuming markets worldwide. The index combines price movements, production data, and policy indicators to produce a single, composite measure of sector exposure.

Calculation and components: PalmaIndex uses a three-component structure. A price return sub-index reflects changes in front-month

Data and methodology: Data are drawn from commodity exchanges and official statistics, supplemented by industry reports

History and usage: PalmaIndex originated in academic and industry discussions in the mid-2010s as a benchmark
