Nichtpräferenzielle

Nichtpräferenzielle is a term used in German to describe measures, rules, or arrangements that do not grant special or preferential treatment to particular countries or groups. It is most commonly found in international trade policy, where it denotes standard, non-discriminatory treatment as opposed to preferential regimes.

Nichtpräferenzielle Zölle are tariffs applied uniformly to all imports regardless of origin, in contrast to tariffs under preferential trade arrangements. Nichtpräferenzielle Ursprungsregeln are the rules of origin used for such measures; they determine whether a product is subject to most-favoured-nation (MFN) rates or standard duties. In the World Trade Organization framework, nichtpräferenzielle Maßnahmen relate to the principle of nondiscrimination (MFN), whereas preferential regimes provide benefits to selected economies. The distinction helps define how tariff schedules are structured and how trade partners are treated in law and policy.

The term can also appear in other policy domains, such as public procurement or taxation, where nichtpräferenzielle procedures or criteria do not give specific suppliers or countries preferential access. In practice, the label emphasizes baseline, uniform treatment rather than targeted advantages.
