Neerzetten

Neerzetten is a Dutch verb meaning to place something down or to install or appoint someone in a position. In its literal sense it refers to putting an object on a surface, such as a chair, a sculpture, or a display. In a figurative sense it is used for establishing someone in a role or position, for example by appointing or designating them as a leader. The word combines zetten with the particle neer (down).

Grammatical note: neerzetten is a separable verb. In main clauses the "neer" particle is usually separated: Ik
